Nassau, Bahamas - On the heels of the first ever Majority Rule Holiday and as South Africa celebrates twenty (20) years of freedom, Starlight Global and the South African High Commission honoured the life of former South African President, the late Nelson Mandela for his devotion to the fight for freedom and his contribution to humanity. Starlight Global recognizes the vital role played by key figures in the Bahamas in the release of Mr. Nelson Mandela from prison.

On January 11th, The Starlight Global Foundation, Andbank, and The South African High Commission hosted “A Night of Inspiration” under the stars in an open air concert featuring musical performances by Jonathan Farrington, World Choir Games double gold medal winners, The Bahamas National Youth Choir, as well as The Bahamas National Symphony Orchestra, The Nassau City Opera Company, The Bel Canto Singers, The Bahamas All Stars Band and other selected local and international artists.

Mr. Werner Gruner, founder of Starlight Global and who is considered Honorary Consul of South Africa, hosted the event as a celebration of inspirational lives that have transformed the world for the 21st century. 

The event was sponsored by Andbank and Starlight Global (non profit organization), and was supported by The Nelson Mandela Foundation. Andbank, lead sponsor. The South African High commission were strategic partners of the event. Supporting partners included The Atlantis Resort and BMW.

High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa to the Caribbean, Her Excellency, Mrs. Mathu Joyini, also attended. Canadian country pop singer-songwriter, Shania Twain was also present.  A raffle held during the evening brought proceeds towards  “Shania Kids Can” a foundation started by Twain,  and the “Starlight Global Foundation”.
